This medal is issued to commemorate the Celebration of the 100 years anniversary of the revival of the 1896 Olympic Games in Athens.
The one side of the medal is identical to the medal awarded to the athletes during the 1896 Olympic Games.
It was Created by J.C. Chaptain and remodelled by sculptress Thelxiopi Theoxari.
The other side of the medal portrays the logo of the Centennial Celebration which was ispired by the Panathinaikon Stadion
