This commemorative medal has been struck by the Hellenic Olympic Committee on the occasion of the Lighting of the Olympic Flame and Torch Relay (25-31/3/2004) for the XXVIII Olympic Games ATHENS 2004.
On the front side Goddess Nike and a TorchBearer are depicted standing beside an altar. This scene has been taken from a red figure pottery vase dated in 400 b.C made by the painter Nikias.
The reverse side represents the emblem of the Olympic Committee with the inscription “Hellenic Olympic Committee XXVIII Olympic Games Torch Relay March 2004”
