Israel, 1969 10 Lirot (Silver), mintage: 19.838
“Shalom” commemorating the 21th anniversary of the state and decicated to those who lost their lives in the struggle for independence. It was a year of hope for Peace between the State of Israel and the Arab countries.
Obverse: The coin displays the word “Shalom” in Hewbrew in the centre of the coin. The denomination “10” Lirot around the rim with the date “1969/5729” in English and Hewbrew.
Reverse: The inscription in the center of the coin, “But No Man Know His Place of Burial” (Deuteronomy, 34:6). The words are positioned to resemble the battlefield monument of the “Unknown Soldier”. An olive branch with an army helmet in the background at the lower right.
The Proof Coins identified with a small Hebrew ‘mem’ at the right of the helmet.
